Looking For Talented Employees? East Cascades Works Has A Solution.

When the harvest is ready, and workers are few, businesses face the challenge of getting creative with their recruiting resources.  This blog article features one creative way to find local talent by promoting from within to leverage a limited workforce market.

There's no need to look farther than your existing workforce to find your next employee.  While promoting from within doesn't find you entry level workers, it does provide advancement opportunities that can also boost morale, which is good for employee retention.  But what if they are not ready or skilled enough for that promotion?  Well, East Cascades Works, our local Workforce Board, has just released an incumbent (existing) worker training effort that provides matching money for training programs.  A summary of this opportunity includes:

  • $75,000 in grants available in increments between $5,000 - $25,000
  • Rolling application process - it will stay open until all funds are awarded
  • A narrated PowerPoint video to guide applicants through the process
  • Ongoing list of Q&A responses to further clarify the application process

Heather Ficht, Executive Director of East Cascades, says: "We look forward to helping employers along the east slope of the Cascades meet their internal training needs."
