REDI Board Involvement

Rick Bailey has been on the REDI Board for about six or seven years, currently in his second full term. Time flies when you're having fun, and Rick truly enjoys his involvement. His journey began on the school board, where he took over the former RSD Superintendent’s role to represent the District at REDI. After his school board term, Rick was invited to stay on with REDI, allowing him to give back to the community. He lives by a lesson from his mentor, Morvin (Moe) Thomas, CPA: "If you’re not growing, you’re dying."

The heartbeat of REDI's mission is to build a strong economic foundation for Redmond's future. This is essential for both the local youth who wish to stay in the area and for the community to weather economic storms. Rick's experience during the early 1980s recession shaped his perspective; it was a tough time when the population in Central Oregon dropped significantly.

Rick currently serves as the President of the REDI Board and is a member of the Investor Relations committee. His role is all about lending a helping hand wherever needed and ensuring the board runs smoothly.

The Investor Social tops Rick's list of favorite REDIevents. He loves the casual vibe and the chance to enjoy in-depth conversationswith fellow investors and friends.

Personal Insights

When Rick is not at work, or REDI, his favorite hangout spots to relax and unwind change with the seasons. In summer, you can find him relaxing outdoors with a refreshing drink on a patio. When winter rolls around, he prefers cozy indoor spots, even if they have outdoor fire pits. His go-to places include Otto’s Place, The Wayfarer, and the scenic rooftop bar at the SCP Hotel.

Rick admits he has a lofty “dad joke” following and is a dedicated family man; proud of his six children and celebrating thirty-one years of marriage with his wife, Patty. He credits his success to her unwavering support and partnership.
